Macbook LCD Screen Oopsy! »

You all know that I love Apple Inc. I love Macintosh computers, iPods, the whole bit (though the jury still out on the iPhone). But alas the halo has dimmed. The angel’s wings have been clipped.

You see, this past Sunday, an accident of freakish proportions happened. Lyndsay had sat the Macbook down and walked away. The place where she sat it was below a book shelf upon which sat a speaker system. Somehow (possibly invisible goblins) some books that were on the shelf with the sub woofer fell over and pushed the sub woofer off the shelf and onto the Macbook shattering the screen.

I Am Discovering My Ancestry »

I have started working on my family tree at Ancestry.com.  This is something I have talked much about doing and thanks to some help and encouragement from Stephen, I have take the leap.

My family tree is a black box to me.  I know practically nothing about any of my ancestors that died before I was born.  This is mostly due to the fact that my parents divorced when I was two years old so I never had much time to discuss such thing with my father. What little I know about my father’s side of the family came from the little information that my mother told me and snippets here and there from my father throughout the years.  I know my paternal grandfather’s name was William Elmer Horne. I know where he’s buried (in a cemetery just north of Byron, GA).  Prior to my research I did not know his parents’ names. I have since discovered that his father was John Benjamin Horn (yes, without the “E”). And John B.’s father was Joshua Lawrence James Horn.  His father was Joshua Lawrence Horn.  The cool thing is I was not purposefully named after either of them. However despite these interesting early discoveries I have a lot of research to do.  I will begin with my father’s oldest sister. I figured she would know and remember the most about my late grandfather and his parents.

I’m a Marvel…And I’m a DC »

You are no doubt familiar with the famous Mac vs. PC commercials by Apple Inc. Well some clever person has spoofed those commercials using a Marvel vs. DC format. If you do not know Marvel and DC are the two main comic book publishers. The YouTube video series includes spoofs with Batman, Spiderman, the Hulk, Iron Man and others. The following videos are with Batman and Iron Man and are two of the funniest that I have seen.

8 Wonderful Years »

Today Lyndsay and I celebrate our 8 year wedding anniversary.

I remember being very relaxed on our wedding day. I had a great time catching up with my friends and groomsmen and talking with my dad. I didn’t have the jitters at all. That is until that famous march began to play and Lyndsay walked through the double doors. I felt my stomach drop. This was not because I was afraid or worried but because the whole scene was so surreal. You spend you life watching weddings happen on TV, movies, to other people and then you hear the music, you see the bride and YOU’RE the groom. It was unreal and wonderful.

Lyndsay is the perfect wife and friend for me. We were so different when we met in 1999 that it’s a wonder we made it so far. We liked different kinds of books, movies, humor, you name it. But now we could not be more alike in so many ways. The Lord has made us one flesh and I am forever grateful to Him for my ZZ.
